Great Pause Project
Arch Mission's Lunar Library II

Great Pause Project (GPP) is an open-source record of images + written reflections of the COVID-19 pandemic. As experts collected information worldwide, GPP created a database for creative expression. Initiated by artists Richelle Ellis, Isabel Beavers and Elena Soterakis, the project asked people from around the globe to reflect on the experience of the pandemic through images, written reflections, and survey. Respondents answered from The US, India, Australia, Scotland, South Africa, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, and more. Great Pause Project was entirely open source, available to a global community to reflect, share and document the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic.

GPP was invited to contribute the Great Pause Project Archive to Arch Mission’s Lunar Library II. The project was printed on nickel nanofiche and sent to the South Pole of the Moon via Space Perspective’s Neptune One test flight on February 15, 2024. Special thanks to Arch Mission Foundation for including this archive with the Lunar Library II.
